UNIT RENDERER TOOL

I've released a tool on Nexus www.nexusmods.com/commandandconquerremastered/mods/8 to help those who wish to create totally new units but are not sure how to generate the required 32 direction graphics. It's a Unity3D project so you will need a copy of Unity3D to run it but it will create the required TGA graphics from a 3D model for you in a single click.

THIS MOD

This mod adds a selection of new vehicles to the game including the Transport Truck which was at some point cut from the game.

I'm focusing on GDI at the moment as that is who I am currently playing in the campaign. I'll do NOD forces once I get there :) However - NOD should benefit from the APCs as they get them anyway.

NEW VEHICLES

These are new vehicles and do not replace or alter the existing vehicles.

1. Grenade Launcher APC
Replaces the standard machine gun with a double grenade launcher which has the same range as the grenade infantry unit. Slight increase in price.

2. Missile Launcher APC
Replaces the standard machine gun with the same missile launcher as the Mammoth Tank giving the APC a nice punch against armoured targets and also a limited ability to engage air units. Proper support vehicle for infantry facing tanks. Slight increase in price.

3. Grenade Launcher Scout
Replaces the standard machine gun with a grenade launcher which has the same range as the grenade infantry unit. Probably just as likely to blow itself up when engaging at close range!

4. Missile Launcher Scout
Replaces the standard machine gun with the same missile launcher as the missile infantry giving the Light Scount a nice punch against armoured targets and also a limited ability to engage air units. Should prove to be a good escort vehicle for resource collectors or provide hit and run tactics against tanks and it even has a modified missile launcher turret!

5. Warrior IFV
This is a GDI unit that I made from scratch using my Unit Renderer Tool. The 3D model quality is not very good which is why the end unit looks a little out of place. This is basically a proof of concept and I'll probably remove it in future, but for the moment it works like a light tank. It is armed with 105mm cannon, light armour but has no capacity for troops.

NEW UNITS

1. Dr. Mobius
Now available as a medic unit. He can slowly heal groups of soldiers over time. Use force fire to target friendly units. Due to his Hippocratic Oath he will also heal enemy units! He requires the new hospital building below before you can build him.

NEW BUILDINGS

1.Hospital
Allows you to create Dr. Mobius medic units at the Barracks or Hand of Nod buildings. Requires at least a power station before you can build it. This building is now available in campaign mode but has a high power usage requirement.

CUT UNITS

While digging around the image files I found a missing vehicle the "TRUK". There are no references to it in the code so I don't know what it was really intended for. I've set it up to carry troops as below...

1. Transport Truck

I've based this around the APC unit type as there was no other information available - just the graphics. It can carry 5 troops but costs a lot less that the standard APC. It has no weapons and very little armour. Available in the campaign at the same time as you get the APC and has the same building requirements.

REFACTORED UNITS

These are existing units that were either only available in multiplayer or not available to both teams even though it would make sense.

1. Transport Chopper

You can now use this in single player. It is available at the same time as you get the helipad

2. Apache Helicopter

Added to the GDI team as an alternative to the ORCA.

TWEAKS

I've also included a few tweaks to the game to compliment the new vehicles...

1. Nod can now build helipads but only get the Apache

2. Helipads now require the Command Centre (shouldn't effect single player as you always have that)

4. Basic minigun infantry have increased range equal to missile launchers but do less damage. This makes them slightly less vulnerable to grendes/flamethrower rushes.

5. M60 machine gun does more damage and fires slightly quicker and has a slightly longer range than the minigun. This effects the APC, Buggy and Scout vehicles. The M60 originally only did the same damage as the minigun troops but fired a lot slower so was actually at lot worse when really it should be a bit better. This new version allows your APC to give covering fire from behind.

6. You can build a hospital - This looks like a cut building as it has the full building animation but no healing or medic was ever included in the game. It it doesn't do anything just yet but fingers crossed that it will create a medic shortly!

SINGLE PLAYER

Units should be available in single player once you've reached the required mission to unlock the vanilla version.

SKIRMISH

All units will be available in skirmish

MULTIPLAYER

I don't think mods work at all in multiplayer

BALANCE

Hopefully these won't unbalance the game too much as they are using the same weapons as the much cheaper infantry units. However, they should give more flexibility to use combined arms tactics and provide proper support to infantry.

I might balance them with extra cost if they prove to be to overpowered...let me know what you think.

CONFLICTING MODS

This mod will conflict with all other DLL mods. If the vehicles don't show up then that would usually mean there is a conflict. Try disabling all mods and see if the vehicles show up.
