i was realy dissapointed, when i got my first medium tank rolling out of the war factory and it didn't have the shape of the iconic M1 Abrams tank.
I am well aware, that Petroglyph, EA and Lemon Sky tried their best to make a good compromise.
They wanted to re-do the models in a way, that represents the original sprites in 4k.
It's also true, that an american M1 doesn't make much sense in a pure european army, set in the 1950-60's.
But when i think of allied medium tank, i think of Abrams, regardless.
So, lets do it the same way as Westwood did in 1996:
We use the assets from Tiberian Dawn and put them right into Red Alert.
If you experience crashes while my mod is active, it is because you have at least one more mod active, that also replaces model graphics.
Red Alert seems unable to load up 2 or more seperate mods, that perform the same task, even if its for different models.
The following is a workaround.
It helps you to keep all mods, while also avoiding crashes:
- Go to your workshop folder; default path should be "%steamapps\workshop\content\1213210\%" - locate all mods, that change models
- cut out the folder within (additional stuff like the .workshop file or pics can stay) - paste the folder on your desktop or some other place, you can find easy
Now, you have 2 choices
OPTION 1
- copy all folders, you collected
- paste them into "My Documents\CnCRemastered\Mods\Red_Alert"
OPTION 2
- copy the "Data" folder within those mods
- paste them into 1 workshop folder of your choice
Keep in mind, either way, you still are technically subscribed to these mods.
If they get updated, new files will downloaded and crashes could reappear.
Should that happen, simply repeat the steps above.
I'll try to figure out, how to resolve this in the long run.
