Tired of hearing the constant and unrelenting professionalism of your units on the battlefield? If so, we have just the mod for you! This mod replaces the voice of the average unit and vehicle with that of the Black Mesa Security Guard from Half-Life 1 and its expansion packs, (aka, the Barneys, often associated with the iconic Barney Calhoun). Yes, now you too can field an army of tired, underpaid and snarky security guards as you wage war for either GDI or Nod!
Used Elevenlabs to create the voice lines, with 16 lines directly sourced from the game. Tried using Uberduck, but I wasn't getting the emotion and sound I wanted.
FAQ:
(1) Why did you use more AI generated (elevenlabs) lines, unlike the HECU mod?
Unlike with the HECU, Elevenlabs generated voicelines that were closer to Barney Calhoun. Also, its important to keep in mind the context. The HECU voices fit an army on the field, whereas msot Barney dialogue reflected a security guard who was trying to survive, as opposed to dutifully following a superior officer.
(2) Why is the EVA mod seperate from the unit voice mod?
I feel its better to keep them seperate, so that they can be enjoyed seperately, or together, depending on your preference.
