Build your defences, team up with your friends - and defend the temple against infinitely scaling attackers!
<< IN-GAME SET-UP >>
ALL PLAYERS (or co-op bots) MUST BE IN TEAM 1!
ONE ENEMY BOT MUST BE IN SLOT 5, TEAM 2!
- Changing the Slot 5 bot's difficulty / behaviour will impact how waves spawn :)
What is SKULL?
SKULL is a 1-4 player co-op (or singleplayer) Horde Mode map.
Enemies spawn in waves over time from 4 directions, scaling infinitely in numbers.
Enemies automatically attack move towards the center of the map.
The objective is to survive as long as you can!
If the central Skull is destroyed, you lose.
Killed enemies provide extra credits to everyone on the team.
Occationally, a Boss enemy unit will spawn. The Boss units gains X% more HP (scaling over time), and grants X% more Credits to the entire team when killed.
More players in co-op = More enemies spawned per wave.
Hope you have fun :)
DIFFICULTY SETTING
The difficulty set on the bot in Slot 5 will impact the spawn waves - that means Casual waves ramp much slower, while Insane waves ramp much faster.
For example, lower difficulty also gives you more prep time before waves start to spawn, and longer minimum time between waves.
Additionally, difficulty also impacts the credit rewards per kill.
MODIFIER SETTING
By adjusting the Behaviour/Strategy of the bot in Slot 5, you can adjust the wave spawns somewhat, in addition to difficulty.
Default – No modifier. Waves spawn from random locations (standard setting).
Aggressive – waves ALWAYS spawn from all 4 directions.
Defensive – waves ALWAYS spawn from South-East.
Adaptive – waves ALWAYS spawn from both South-East, and South-West.
Special thanks to Papyrus for giving me the idea :)
NOTE
If there is no enemy bot in Slot 5, Team 2, the game will default to Normal Difficulty (and no Modifier).
However, Co-Op in Custom Games can only be started if there is an opponent in Team 2.
SAVE/LOAD SUPPORT
There is some very basic save/load support for this map:
- Loading a game after prep time has been completed makes waves resume after 1 minute.
- Loading a game that has gone on for more than 2 hours has NO additional prep time, and immediately triggers the next wave.
- At the beginning of the match, additional game start prep time is given if saving/loading before the game start prep time has been completed (due to me not being able to save how much prep time you've gotten – waves scales with server time so doesn't matter too much if you get a bit more prep time).
- The Wave Counter is stored as well (as of ver.1.6)
- 5% health buff for enemy wave-spawns, after a certain amount of time has passed. This is not present on Casual, and scales way slower on Easy. For the higher difficulties, it ramps faster. This health buff stacks, growing over time, very slowly. *On Normal, this happens every 30 minutes, for example.*
- After a certain amount of time, boss waves will spawn additional bosses. This is not present on Casual, and scales way slower on Easy. This also stacks, creating waves with multiple bosses, stacking very slowly. Makes Insane much harder. *On Normal, this happens every 45 minutes, for example.*
- Insane starts with 2 bosses per Boss Wave by default.
